Microphones You can spend three thousand dollars or slightly more on a top end Neumann U 87 microphone that most music stars record with but it's not necessary. You can buy a Sure SM-58 for recording your vocals and a Sure SM-57 for recording your instruments. You total cost is about two hundred dollars. You should have at least two condenser microphones as well. You can pay between fifty to a thousand dollars each for one. The company MXL makes some pretty good recording microphones as well that are very economical and still sound great.
