The term computer brings to mind an electronic component placed in the office or living area of a local home that is used to transmit information across space utilizing physical connectivity or wireless technology. However, the original equipment that housed computing hardware required large amounts space and a cooling system as the equipment generated levels of heat that could damage the units during operation. With the use of punch cards that implemented commands given by an operator and large tape drives that recorded information similar to the floppy disk drive available on most PCs. The floppy disc drive is systematically becoming obsolete on newer models. As computer technology continues to evolve with VOIP, or voice over Internet Protocol, Internet connections are available via cell phone providers, and a host of applications in production by Intel, Microsoft, and others that set industry standards in computing. The likelihood of purchasing a new device only to find it archaic within weeks is no surprise in the realm of technological advancement.
